Can you imagine what the day-today operations of a busy automotive production plant look like? Well, in Ingolstadt, Germany, where Audi has one of their facilities, 700 variants of the compact Audi A3 head towards the line. Recently, one special A3 model (a Sportack 2.0 TDI quattro, to be exact) left the plant and marked a very impressive milestone for automaker.

What's the impressive feat you ask? The aforementioned model represented the 3 millionth Audi A3 to ever be manufactured in the line's 17 years.

Dr. Frank Dreves, a member of the Board of Management for Audi AG comments that the milestone is "quite a performance,"1 and that "the success is backed by a strong team and an efficient production system."2

Looking back in 2012, Audi developed its next iteration of the sporty A3. It gained plenty of notice and was welcomed with open arms throughout the global market. New standards were set with unmatched build quality, efficiency and more.

Along with yearly upgrades, the A3 line spawned many more extensions of its different models. In addition to the traditional 3-door and Sportback versions, the Audi range also includes a S3 Sportback, and 300PS S3, which are available in the United Kingdom. Also making an appearance in 2014 will be the S3 Saloon.
