Electric vehicles are growing in popularity everywhere, but you'll see them more in cities and urban areas. The short distance between stores around town make a perfect place for emission-free driving. Driving a vehicle that can go a long time before having to recharge or refuel is a huge benefit. Keeping that in mind, it's not surprising that Audi is looking to get in on the action.

There are rumors swirling around in the automaker's home country of Germany that they will produce a new Audi luxury electric car option, with a possible unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Audi will utilize the platform from one of their sibling brands for this new electric car. However, it will still have the modern styling we'd expect to find on Audi models like the trademark front grille, LED lighting and chrome accents throughout.

If what we are hear is true, Audi's electric city car will use a lithium-ion batter pack strategically placed under the floor. The electric city car will have an approximate driving range of 125 miles before needing a recharge. Peeking in the engine bay you'll find a motor that pushes out 115-hp, 199 foot-pounds of torque and tops out at 90 miles per hour.

For now, we'll have to wait to see what happens. It's very possible that the new Audi could only be available in Europe, but as the story of this car unfolds we'll provide updates here on Jack Daniels Paramas Audi blog. In the mean time, we invite you to visit our Paramas, NJ showroom to view the current Audi lineup and have all your questions answered.
